Camp: Secret Agent Lab | Kids Out and About Research Triangle <

Camp: Secret Agent Lab

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 07/17/2020
Step into the shoes of a detective at our Secret Agent Headquarters—uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. What happens to all of the evidence field agents collect? Explore forensic science through the eyes of both a detective and spy. Are detectives really scientists in disguise? Use your skills of listening, testing, and observation during this week of detection. The correct conclusions are critical to solving the crime scene puzzle!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Secret Agent Lab runs from 9a-4p 7/13-7/17! (Grades K-6)

These are only a sample of some of the activities that we will be doing each day. The topics will not necessarily follow this order. However, each of these topics will be included at some point in the camp.

Discover Detection – Step into the shoes of a detective—uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Using the power of observation and the Inspecti-Kit, our young detectives will have all they need to get started with their investigations. Children use the gear in their kit to find, collect, and analyze evidence.

Jr. Detectives – Want to know who did it? Campers will find out by using their Fingerprint Finder to place and identify UV prints as they explore fingerprint analysis. They will create, collect, and analyze evidence and discover what skills are necessary as a crime scene lab technician.

Funky Forensics – Figure out the science of forensics in this hands-on look at crime scenes. Evidence collection and puzzle making will lead them to understand why forensic scientists like to understand the complete picture before they make decisions. Children use the Case Stamper to stamp out a mystery on a case card and discover the science of tracking.

Crime Lab – Got clues? Analyze clues and get hot on the trail of a culprit with the Crime Lab program. With the Spynoculars, children stealthily observe clues from afar. These build-your-own binoculars are used to test the limits of magnified observation and are a sneaky way to refine observational skills.

Whodunit? – Whodunit? Test your skills and learn how the pros do it through careful observation and techniques to handle evidence properly. Using their Whodunit Kit take home, students can practice the skills of recall and observation— they are provided with character descriptions to reconstruct the face of the suspect!

Please send 2 snacks, lunch, and a water bottle (no peanuts please!).
