Burning Coal Theatre Company Presents: KidsWrite Festival!
Every spring we accept original one-act play submissions for our KidsWrite! series to encourage the young writers of North Carolina! This is a terrific opportunity for budding playwrights to challenge their imagination and bring their stories to life on stage. Finalists will have their work professionally produced and performed in front of an audience at Burning Coal Theatre. Finalists will also have their plays published in a physical book with the other finalists.

SUBMIT YOUR PLAY | Grades 6-12
Submission Deadline: March 1, 2025
Performances: May 23rd & 24th, 2025 at 7:00PM
Parents and teachers are welcome to submit on student’s behalf.
Students may submit more than one play.
Students may write in groups.
**Teachers submitting on behalf of multiple students may email us at info@burningcoal.org including the following information for each student: playwright’s name, address, email or phone number, grade and school.
SCRIPT GUIDELINES
Must be original and unique to the playwright
Must be written in Standard Playwrighting Format, with name and contact info on a cover sheet
May be up to 25 pages in length (average length is about 15 pages)
No more than 4 characters
No more than 2 locations
Finalists will be notified by April 4th, 2025. All writers will receive feedback about their plays.
