*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 11/19/2021
An introduction to the sculptural art and tools and materials of needle felting. Participants will get to know this luxurious, natural material and the satisfaction of mindful handiwork. We'll have a short introduction, some guiding points/examples, and one-on-one help as needed. Most participants leave with a small, finished, or well-on-the-way-to-being finished, ornament-sized felted piece. Skills taught: Needle felting for small-sized sculptures, 3-D building; visualization, self-expression, working WITH the inner-critic and encouragement. Ages 11 and up are welcome! Supplies will be provided.

About Lindy Chicola:
Growing up surrounded by nature, art, and a diverse cultural family background had a strong influence on Lindy's work and interests. Since receiving a B.F.A. at Rhode Island School of Design, she's been involved in one community-building art project after another. After exploring the cultural meaning of art more deeply at Free Columbia, she earned an M.A. in Art Therapy from Lesley University. Now through non-profits like the Art Therapy Institute, she has the privilege of facilitating art as a mode of healing with amazing people; and at Hearth collective, she gets to explore the magical way art builds community in collaboration with others. When given the opportunity, she loves to help the wide range of people she encounters explore any potential art medium and build empowerment whenever possible. She's constantly striving to incorporate eco-friendly, inclusive, and socially-aware approaches in the arts for psycho-social renewal.
