Reading and Relaxing with the Goats

*The event has already taken place on this date: Mon, 06/03/2019
We have an amazing group of goats that love to cuddle and be read to. Let your child come release anxiety, build fluency, and enjoy reading again! Make sure to register as we fill up quickly!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Reading and Relaxing with the Goats is perfect for kids who struggle with reading and/or anxiety. This is a judgement free, loving environment, where kids can just enjoy themselves surrounded by lovable goats. We have books or you can bring your own. Kids and Teens will read to the goats, then spend time in a relaxing, mindfulness exercise while cuddling with the goats. The reading has been shown to increase fluency and decrease frustration and stress around reading. The mindfulness exercise has been shown to reduce anxiety and increase calm and joy.

Kids ages 5-16 are welcome. Parents will need to sign them in, and then can either leave and come back, or enjoy our picnic area or a walk to Falls Lake. You can trust that our trained volunteers, staff, and goats will care for your child and have them in a positive mood by the end of the session.

Registration is required. We look forward to reading and spreading the joy of goats with you.
