Emancipation Tours at Historic Stagville - Durham, NC

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 06/26/2021
How did African American families claim their freedom at Stagville in 1865? In recognition of Juneteenth, Historic Stagville is offering a special tour at 11 am, every Saturday in June. This tour explores emancipation on one of North Carolina's largest plantations. Formerly enslaved families celebrated, defended themselves, and organized, while the Camerons strategized to hold on to their power and wealth.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Tours are $2 for adults, $1 for children or seniors--except on June 19th, when all tours are free during our Juneteenth program. These tours are recommended for children over 12. Tours will be mostly outdoors, with two short stops at historic buildings. Be prepared for walking and weather!

Visitors are expected to follow the “Three W’s” as outlined by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services – WEAR a cloth mask over your nose and mouth, WAIT in line at least six feet away from others, and WASH your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer. If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, we ask that you postpone your visit.
